30/04/2025 | Almost two years after the installation of the new hybrid turf on the playing surface of the Allianz Arena in Munich, we interviewed the General Manager of the stadium, Jürgen Muth.
- How did you find out about the Mixto technology?
‘Through colleagues who have various hybrid systems in use’.
In fact, we remember that the Mixto hybrid grass was installed a few months earlier at the FC Bayern München training centre and has also been chosen by Real Madrid for the Santiago Bernabeu for over 10 years. Mixto is an all-Italian patent, signed by the two companies Limonta Sport and Rappo Srl.
- What did you expect and how are you getting on with the new Mixto turf, especially compared to a classic natural grass pitch?
‘We expected greater stability than previously installed, and therefore a better playing performance. So far, these expectations have been completely fulfilled, confirming that we made a very good choice with the Mixto turf.’
- How did your employees feel before, during and after the installation of the Mixto turf?
‘All previous agreements with Limonta Sport have been fulfilled. Even during the installation they did a great job. We managed to organise a Bundesliga match the day after the installation work was completed and everyone involved was very satisfied.’
That’s right. The large rolls of hybrid grass (a perfect mix of natural and artificial grass) left the Milan nursery on special trucks for Munich.
The work in the stadium started on 7 August 2023, and was completed in a few days, … and the German Super Cup final between FC Bayern Munich and Leipzig was played on 12 August.
- What has been the feedback from players and coaches about the new Mixto pitch?
‘So far we have received consistently positive feedback and criticism has been limited to minor points.’
More and more teams playing at the highest level are choosing the hybrid technology offered by the Bergamo-based company. Whether Lay&Play (Mixto) or stitched directly into the pitch (VerdeMix), it reinforces natural grass, guaranteeing unrivalled playability.
