The area where the football turf stands today, was originally an unused space, muddy and barely playable where kids where meeting to play street soccer when nothing else was available for them. All the surroundings were abandoned and mainly converted in an unofficial dumping area for construction material.
With the combined effort of FIFA, FEF and Municipality of Quito (that agreed to loan for free the terrain for the construction of the new football pitch) the project was approved to give to the local football association a new home where to grow its young football generation.
Due to years of un-ruled construction material dumping, the area required a deep excavation to remove the unstable material and substitute it with new one that could guarantee the stability, evenness and the draining capability of all the sub-construction.
Great dedication was dedicated to the special climatic and logistic conditions of the project; located in Quito, 2900 m of altitude in one of the few plateaux of the Andes, the football pitch was subject to careful selection of materials to guarantee the quality, the performance and the durability of the investment.
