2 July 2020 – Tonight at 6 pm the match Switzerland – Spain will be played at the Saint Petersburg Stadium – Zenit Arena, on the reinforced grass pitch once again signed by the Italian leading company Limonta Sport.
A stadium, that already for the World Cup 2018, has chosen the best technology currently on the market: Mixto, perfect synergy between nature and synthetic.
It all begins in Denmark, where 8,000 square meters of reinforced grass were pre-cultivated by NKI.
Mixto, a 100% Made in Italy solution, consists of synthetic and natural components, where the artificial matrix is perfectly designed to better promote the natural component’s germination, growth and development. This composite system creates conditions for perfect oxygenation, permeability of the surface layer and a perfect air-water-soil balance, preventing the formation of muddy areas or waterlogging. Mixto grants stability, permeability and the maximum safety for athletes, with reduced maintenance costs compared to 100% natural surfaces.
Mixto: a reticulated base on which not even 3% of artificial grass is sewn, and where natural grass grows. This structure makes the hybrid turf 3 times stronger than natural, more resistant to playing stress, while athletes’ perception is almost identical to that of fully natural turf.
At the end of January, 20 refrigerated trucks transported Mixto turf from Denmark to Saint Petersburg in about 60 hours. The field, due to Lay And Play technology, was laid in less than 4 days.
And today, three years later, with proper maintenance, the field is still in perfect playing condition.
